This collection contains personal files of Charles J. Meler of Nashville, Illinois: hatcheryman; member of Illinois Poultry Industry Council; past president of the American Poultry and Hatchery Federation. It covers personal correspondance, egg marketing orders, egg promotion material including the original Proclamation by William G. Stratton, the Governor of Illinois. Additionally, the collection contains contracts for egg producers and started pullet growers, which were negotiated in Illinois and neighboring states, Bulletins of the Illinois Extension Service, publications of the American Poultry and Hatchery Federation and the Illinois Poultry Industry Council, and miscellaneous brochures from nationally known commercial poultry breeding organizations and equipment manufacturers.
